Thread: If you can play Region 1 DVDs....

If you can play Region 1 DVDs....

...Then I heartily suggest grabbing Bullshit.

After seeing it referenced one to many times on the JREF forums I ordered it. Now having watched it I can honestly say it's worth it. It may not be to everyones taste peppered as it is with strong language, although they do provide a good explaination for that, but they manage to combine scepticism and entertainment with almost scientific tests (think Mythbusters but with less explosions). Definitely a keeper :)

*sigh* (and thankfully we have a decent Smilie for that )

Here's a site that explains it well :)

And here is a site that may be able to assist you in bypassing aforementioned Region coding

*Hint* Check the back of your DVD player for it's Product\model number, and search under that. Unfortunately there's a few manufacturers who require a special chip to do the unlock (Sony being a prime example). Since there's some awesome stuff that only gets shown in the States, or more typically we see it a year later, then getting a R1 capable player is worth it . Amazon has a few under the fifty quid mark if you don't want to muck around with your current player

    Oh right.

I'll check as I've never seen any of the 'Bullshit' programmes.

I tried to find them online when WinMX was working last year but never managed it.

since Showtime refuse to relase Bullshit outside the US I feel morally obligated to download it off Peer2Peer. If they sold the box set in the UK I'd buy it in a heart-beat.

The first series is very good I downloaded from the net when it became clear there would be no legal way for me to get them. I have the episodes saved to DVD (somewhere!).

Series two was also pretty good, but I disagreed with the main points is a couple of the shows.

Series three, I felt was scraping the barrel to find something they could say "bullshit" to.

I have Series 1 & 2 on DVD (Region 1), as I am lucky to have a DVD player that handles USAian DVD's.

I bought it from an Amazon retailer for about £40. It's been discontinued now, but the next one up looks just as good for £60.
