    Vanessa show

On the Vanessa show today - ITV3 12.30PM they've got a bloke on who drinks his own urine. :o

It might be interesting to see how he justifies this.

    He's not alone... Urine Therapy

I'm watching the show now and the bloke is being interviewed soon. They've already had that sad altie on who's still breastfeeding a 7-year-old. :)

The urine blokey looks wrong just from his face, he has the manly physique of Mr.Muscle lol I love a good freakshow :)

eewwww, he also tastes his girlfriend's wee to assess her health.

He also massages it into his face as a beauty product, he is doing all this in the studio as it makes good telly :o

He's also a strange yellow colour, and Vanessa said he smells of wee!

Oh now he's going on about big Pharma conspiracy

    OK, then he's crazy.

Urine is a waste product like poo. It is not meant to be drunk. The 'urine is sterile' thing is largely a myth, it's sterile when it's at your kidneys, and then it picks up lots of crud on the way out. And once it leaves your body, it's anything but sterile.

So, given that urine is all the waste products your body is flushing, why would you put it back in?

He just doesn't know anything about science, clearly.

Seven-year-olds breastfeeding...hmm. OK, I think that may be a cultural thing, I'm not exactly sure what harm there is in it if both parties have no sexual issues.

Myself, I was aware of my sexual self at seven years old, and aware (through "don't look at Page 3!" and boys giggling about stuff they didn't really understand) that breasts are sexual objects, so I suspect I would have been somewhat damaged by continued breastfeeding.

However, it is the norm in other cultures.

But then so is paedophilia, so I dunno.

I'm quite happy for woos to be smearing their faces with piss. The idiots deserve everything they get.

Breasts are only sexual objects because Western culture holds them to be so, there is nothing fundamentally sexual about lactation.

    Re: Vanessa show

Urine therapy is one of my favourite crackpot ideas. It's a good illustration of just how stupid people can be.

I haven't watched the programme yet but I recorded the last bit so I'll watch it for a laugh.

As for breastfeeding. I think the transition to solids should begin at a fairly young age. That's recommended by experts, not me.

I think going past 2 or 3 years does not benefit the child but some people think that mother's milk is the best natural food available therefore it should be given as long as possible. That's extrapolating things too far though - breast milk evolved to be best for babies. Young children should be on solids as that's our natural diet.

Her kids did have solid food they just had breast milk as well when they felt like it. She believes children decide for themselves when they want to be weaned- this one just doesn't want to yet.

As to the best woo ideas- did anyone see that programme a few months ago about attached parenting and 'elimination communication'? :o

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elimination_communication

Basically they believe the use of nappies is restrictive to children, so they just 'guess' when the baby is going to go :o It involves a lot of mopping up floors , and they must be lacking a hobby if they have time for this :)

Yes, that's my point. This child and his/her mother are part of Western culture, and all that goes with it. Whilst you can choose to 'opt out' all you like, that doesn't mean your child won't be stigmatised/affected in later life, particularly in the case of a boy who will grow up to perceive breasts as sexual but still have clear memories of sucking on his mothers'.

Equally, sex with a 12-year-old girl is negative in Western culture but desirable in others. You are part of the culture you are part of, whether you like it or not.
