As an atheist/agnostic/non religious/ e.t.c when to you consider it appropriate to discuss the subject of religion with those who have a different viewpoint? e.g
Anytime?
Anytime you meet someone who does not share the viewpoint?
when it is brought up in a conversation?
When someone asks you directly?
Never?
Also, when do you think someone with a relgous viewpoint should bring that up?

I'm happy to discuss the subject when it comes up, without making any great effort to raise it or avoid it.
Anywhere except the workplace.

I've never felt the need to talk about my personal convictions - of course if they bring it up that's another matter entirely
Only if it's brought up in conversation, which it hardly ever is, because I have conversations when I'm relaxed and attentive.
Never on my doorstep when, for reasons which are obviously not clear to religious persons, (or for that matter, chuggers and salesmen) I happen to be holding a wooden spoon covered in pasta sauce.
Good question ...
IMO it's "when it is brought up in a conversation" for both groups - but anyone has a right to opt out of such a conversation if the don't fancy it at that moment, and they have a right not to be hounded further by the other party.
Also, if one party asks another directly and the questioned party chooses to supply an answer, the questioner should feel obligated to answer a similarly direct question in return.
