    Pratt!

Doctor prescribed crosses to beat black magic, tribunal told

A family doctor who allegedly stunned a patient by telling her that she might be possessed by an evil spirit, failed to appear at a medical tribunal hearing yesterday. Dr Joyce Pratt, 44, from Birmingham, allegedly told the young woman during a consultation that "something moving in her stomach" might be an evil spirit.

The General Medical Council hearing in Manchester was told that Dr Pratt gave the patient crosses and trinkets to ward off black magic and told her to visit a priest at Westminster Cathedral in London. The doctor faces a charge of serious professional misconduct.

The patient, Mrs K, attended the Westside Contraceptive Clinic in Westminster, London, for a contraceptive injection after complaining of pain and bleeding. But the panel was told that Dr Pratt claimed to have special powers and gave her stones and crosses to protect her. She allegedly told her that her mother was a witch and was planning to kill her.
    Good grief!

I read about this in the sun yesterday. My first thought was 'is it for real' Obviously that doctor is not a very well person and needs psychiatric help! One wonders what else she has told people and how on earth she is practising as a doctor! You don't just develop paranoid delusions over night do you!

The sun is still read by like 1 in 20 of the population or summat so you will not b the only guilty one on the board :)

As to this doctor- lost it a bit i think. Not so much in her beliefs, but she should never have shared them in a professional context. Hence she ended up in this pickle! That she shared them hints that she either has an obsession with them or some sort of impulse control problem.

You can tell she's a bit fruity as she didn't even attend the hearing.

Sadly not the first that I am aware of.

About 20 years ago I called on a GP Locum who was offering people crystal healing.
