Re: Christmas Muzak in the shopping mall

When I saw the title of this thread, I was going to post that clip - my cousin emailed it to me earlier today. I've sent it on to some Christian friends - I'm sure they will enjoy.

God does get a lot of the best tunes - pity he isn't actually there to appreciate them.

I don't suppose I'm the only one whose stomach churns when all the usual sentimental pap is played in shops and centres.

How about this to induce copious amounts of vomit?

Yes, my thread title might mislead. This is of course loads of fun and a great performance by a good choir, unlike the usual shite they spew out of the PA. Wish I'd been there...

It really must have been wonderful to have actually been there - a magical happening, so to speak, though totally prepared, of course.

You've probably sung "Messiah" as I have. There was a very short section, about two thirds through, that sounded not quite right to me. Did you notice?

Sadly I haven't sung Messiah - I was invited to do so in Bath at an unrehearsed event many years ago but was unable to.

It wouldn't surprise me if something had gone wrong at the flash mob. Doing something like that without a conductor and with background noise must be very difficult. I heard a bit of organ at the start but it wasn't very loud. In my experience, pitch and tempo can start to drift very quickly when a choir sing 'unsupported'.
