I'm not sure what to make of this part of the report:

Local newspapers reported a facility in the capital Riyadh had declined, saying it could not inflict such harm.

Doesn't seem very likely.
Even shariah judges realise they might someday need the services of a doctor.

Even people who claim to believe that everything really is the will of Allah, and even people who honestly do think that they they do believe everything is the will of Allah, (or believe in one or other kind of predestination) still for some reason don't tend to go around making unnecessary enemies.
Presumably some kind of residual sanity, even if it's a residue they're not aware of, or are in denial about.

Yes. Except that it does raise the horrendous prospect of a large man with a big stick (rather than a medic) being asked to perform the task instead!
