    Your,my and the opinion the of the secular authorities are irrelevant.The decision to swim during Ramadan belongs to the individual alone, perhaps on advice from his/her Imam. That advice will vary wildly.

    Ramadan is a period of fasting: No food or liquids may be ingested between dawn and dusk,that includes swallowing one's own saliva.


    The obligation to fast begins at puberty. There are many exemptions:pregnant women,the sick,the mentally incompetent, the infirm elderly and travellers.
