This is a very long, and ultimately depressing article about the RC church in Germany.

The Catholic Church in Germany, already struggling to cope with the sex abuse scandal, has been hit by revelations of theft, opaque accounting and extravagance. While the grassroots faithful are being forced to make cutbacks, some bishops enjoy the trappings of the church's considerable hidden wealth.

I became aware through direct experience of the greed and mendacity of the Church as an institution and of some priests as individuals when I was 17. At the time I was shocked to the core. I left the Church 3 years later.i

This is a private grievance of mine. Non religious and disturbed at the hidden wealth behind the walls of Vatican City. The paintings, the books and the gold… The sexual abuse that is covered up… Ordinary people giving part of their wages… Birth control… And how easily something can change when it suits them. I find it difficult to even comment on that article.
