    Mentalist let off jury duty

If it's good enough for the California of Investigation why does the Scottish Legal system have a problem with a Derren Brown-alike sitting on a jury?

A TELLY mindreading star was excused jury duty after fears he might wreck the trial.
How exactly does he pose a threat?

Matt, I know it's a rhetorical question, but he posed no threat. Unfortunately, this idiocy from court officials has done a great deal of damage to the credibility of the jury selection process. Would they not allow Russell Grant or Septic Peg to sit on a jury for the same reason? Garbage.

The comparison is minor, this guy doesn't claim to be psychic but rather very skilled at reading people through non-supernatural means.

    Ah, right:

"But he admits his abilities are due to a lifetime of studying human behaviour."

I missed that on my first read-through, and just caught the references to mind-reading and spoonbending etc.

Ah, a British Patrick Jane. ( Simon Baker, who is really Australian.)

The guy must be thrilled at the wonderful free publicity.

I like that series - not just entertaining, but anti-woo!

Me too, although there was that one episode which ended implying that woman psychic had been in contact with Jane's dead wife and child.

I can imagine Patrick in the jury room helping with deliberations.

The way I read it ,the guy being excused had nothing to do with woo.

Must have been in series 1 - I couldn't get Channel 5 in the pre-digital days, but I'll hire the DVDs when series 2 is over.
