I can see why this would appeal to you. The issue of mass death camps is too well documented to be a matter of opinion, the numbers of those killed is more fertile ground for opinion and analysis.
The comparison with Dresden fails to consider this rather important point. If however, someone was to attempt to claim that the destruction of Dresden was a minor affair associated with only a small number of fatalities - then I think any reasonable analysis of the available incontrovertable data would mean that that person should not be teaching history.
So his analysis backfires - where there is solid evidence, history is not just a matter of opinion.
