    Please pardon an ignorant antipodean colonial;

    What does the term 'constitutional' mean in a British context? I was under the impression Britain doesn't actually have a written constitution.

    Faith schools will still be state funded. He says faith schools will need to have a more inclusive approach to entry and that people shouldn't be denied based on a religious test, but how exactly would that work?

    He isn't suggesting that Catholic schools should be forced to accept students even if they're Muslim, Jew atheist etc. So how can he prevent religious discrimination?

    I don't understand how a school can consider itself a faith school and at the same time be completely free of discrimination.

    We don't. But we have centuries of "custom and practice" to follow.

    Apparently Gus O'Donnell, cabinet secretary, has written a book of guidelines to the constitution that were followed during this election.

    At least we don't have Blair's Labour and it's faith schools.

    Would anybody here have wanted more of that? Really?
    No. But Blair wasn't running!
    Cameron is in favor of "choice". For 'choice' read choosing to segregate and brainwash kids on basis of parental 'faith' and/or 'wealth'.

    I was under teh impression that our constitution is written, it's just not codified. It exists spread over a number of documents and amendments from the Magna Carta onwards.

    A mixture of both, I'd say.

    So the BBC was a little premature with this - Education has gone to Michael Gove. He's ostensibly C of E, but seems quite rational nonetheless, so maybe he won't push the 'more faith schools" policy too hard.
