The Richard Dawkins foundation for science and reason.

    See: http://richarddawkins.net/index.php

Now this is a welcome addition to the rising tide of scientific thinking, rationalism, skepticism, secularism and humanism that is so badly needed in modern societies.

This might be short notice, but Dawkins and Lalla Ward are doing a book reading in London on Oct 9th at The Institute of Education, University of London, Old Building, LSE, Houghton Street, London if anyone's interested in going.

Looking at the aims of the foundation, RD has certainly aimed high. I Just hope that the religion side of things doesn't get in the way of everything else.

This is good news, I hope it succeeds

Well he seems to have split it between the USA and here. I suspect that religion will play a major role in the USA side of things but we're not as religiose as they are so hopefully he'll deal with more of the issues that affect us here.

I agree with Zendal. Of course, we all want rational thinking to be actively promoted, and any organisation which is doing that has to be a good thing.

However, I too am concerned that the public and the media may focus excessively on RD's atheism, rather than on concerns over other woo beliefs. IMO there are plenty of these which have greater potential for harm than personal faith in God.

That seems to be the initial reaction to it. The anti-religionists seem to have embraced RD's website enthusiastically; although many of them are American, which is understandable.

We could do with plenty of diversity in tackling these issues.

The forum is open BTW: http://www.richarddawkins.net/forum/index.php
