"Engineered a release" - what does that mean? Assuming Scottish Law is similar to English, if she was detained under Section 4 of the Mental Health Act, which is by far the most common "sectioning", she would automatically be released after 72 hours. http://tinyurl.com/27ud6ro
Extracts can be misleading - where can we read the complete report?

Brian,
I believe Scots law is broadly similar to English in this field. Anne simply "played the game" for a few days so that the hospital would have no excuse not to release her within 72 hours.
The Scottish Mental Welfare Commission have no record of her sectioning - this is highly irregular to put it mildly.
This is the full PCCS report.

If there's no record, (even if there is?) is it really something that should be publicly discussed unless it's of particular relevance to the main issue.
Hope you don't get into trouble for providing that. However, it is illuminating and shows the very considerable efforts the Grampian police and others have gone to to handle this a sensitively as possible. I for one would like to thank them for the enormous effort and attention to detail shown in their investigations. It is amazing to be able to provide detailed documentation of actions in a case like this when the microscope is turned on every little thing that happened years before.
You can find all the Scottish "complaints" reports here:

and summaries of the English ones here:

The English IPCC even has a Twitter page:
