I have a rather distorted view of adverts because I rarely watch anything on ITV/C4 that hasn't been pre-recorded. So I just fast-forward through the adverts. One benefit - no music!
I have wondered how many other people do this, and whether or not advertisers take it into account in producing their videos - like making sure the product name stays visible for long enough...
I do that aswell. My machine also has the added benefit of a button which can skip the adverts at a single press.
As the technology becomes cheaper and more people acquire it I do wonder how the advertisers will get round the problem of no one watching their ads.

Let me guess - a collapse in TV advertising will nicely coincide with the BBC being forced to rely more on commercial income rather than the licence fee...
And of course, will be a great help to those zillions of commercial TV channels being established in our new digital age.
Where is the money to fund decent programmes going to come from in the future?
There was an interview on Radio 4 the other evening which mentioned this. It is already the case that TV programmes have to get an instant good audience or they are canned. It is used to be possible to build an audience. Also, expensive programmes have to have more an international appeal so they can be sold overseas. So expect more 'transatlantic' style programming.
I can't help thinking that the trend within TV of making ever cheaper programmes dumbed down to the lowest common denominator is an instance of civilisation sliding back down the hill...
Who remembers these? Those Hamlet ads were special.
