Pop star to Opera Star - BBC

Well, all you opera buffs - I enjoyed this. Not easy for a bunch of also-rans to sing opera. I thought they did well enough. It will be interesting to see if any of them become any good over the next few weeks. I liked Marcella and Darius.

Any programme with Katherine Jenkins and Myleen Klass in has got to be worth watching anyway.

    Katherine Jenkins

You know, if she played her cards right, she could be in here.

I didn't watch this as I find this sort of programme grating. It's not the content (singing, dancing, etc.) it's the bloody panels they have on them. It's like pantomime.

Katherine Jenkins is the only reason it's worth watching Wales play Rugby.

I'd say all but one have a lot of work to do. The men in particular lacked the power needed to sing opera successfully.

pop star to opera star is on ITV.......great idea, terrible execution. I read an interesting blog about it www.juliettepochin.co.uk/blog, though the tenor getting all cross in the Times http://entertainment.timesonline.co....cle6997143.ece

seems to be promoting opera as something of a miserable profession!!!!!

Bernie Nolan will win and deservedly so, but opera singer she is not, she's just better than Darius. The duet she did with Katherine J was great - mostly because of Katherine J.

I haven't been following the series, but I've watched Bernie and Darius on the ITV player thing. A couple of boobies, if you ask me. Don't know nowt about this Jenkins lass.

Edit. I think I read that Darius was a sort of Rolando Villazon protege?? Listen to him here ruining the big duet from "The Pearl Fishers".
