Don't know if you know about this....
On Monday, 18th September on Channel 5 (9pm), there is a programme on called "The Boy Who Lived Before". This is apparently about a six year old boy who has memories from a past life and a film crew go with him and his family to where he thinks he lived before.
They take along a Dr Jim Tucker (a child psychologist) who specialises in reincarnation and has researched other children like this boy.
I found this on the "Dr"

No idea what it will be like but it may be something to chew over afterwards
There was a write up in The Sun (must be true then): http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/1,,2...410683,00.html
It will be interesting to see how they handle the topic.
They tend to leave things as unexplained, to add to the mystery, but I wonder if they'll look for normal explanations like the child seeing something on TV about Barra.
.
Well it was pretty much as I expected, not enough information to make any reasonable conclusions.
The hits:
He got house colour right - White (although all the houses on Barra seemed to be white)
He got the dog right - Black and white collie.
He got the surname right - Robertson.
He got the plane landing on a beach right (although the landing strip was far from his house)
The misses:
He got the firstname wrong - Shane.
He didn't recognise anyone, even his so-called relatives.
The house seemed mostly unfamiliar to him.
Let's say he saw a documentary on Barra when he was younger - possibly just a few minutes of footage that his mother never realised he saw. Let's speculate that it made an impression on him - perhaps because of the unusual way the planes use the beach to land on. Maybe he gets a bit excited about it and starts to imagine what it would be like to live there - again not unlikely given his dull Glasgow council estate upbringing. When his mother takes it all a bit seriously and starts pushing him for a name, he responds with a madeup name - Shane Robertson (suitably scots sounding).
To his delight he finds that everyone gives him lots of attention for this little story he's made up, so he starts adding a few more details - the dog etc (again maybe he would like to own a dog?)
I know the above is wildly speculative but is it not more likely that something like this occurred, rather than reincarnation? Surely the mother should have given the kid a good grilling regarding the origins of his story, rather than encouraging the wacky explanation.
I liken it to 'imaginary friend' sort of stuff.
I suspect the mum is a bit into reincarnation herself and there is a degree of 'coaching' going on where the boy is rewarded for giving the right answers.
I'm going to watch this this afternoon. I only saw it in the background last night.
The crux of the matter - whether his father really did exist and was killed in a car accident - didn't check out. The rest of it is superfluous to the claim but it's interesting as to how he could have formed such 'memories' in the first place.
