Can't find where I posted it before, but I can't find Today's Posts. There doesn't seem to be any quick link to it, and although there used to be a link to them when all "new posts" had been read, I can't now read all new posts because of the announcement that isn't an announcement ...

The "new posts" is at the top left of the black nav bar at the top of the page. For some reason it's called "today's posts" when you log out.

The trouble I'm having with these problems is that I can't reproduce them. Everything works for me no matter what computer or browser I use.

    BTW,

The first update for the software is due in a matter of days then there's another one in another 2-3 weeks so, hopefully, these niggles will be overcome quickly.

Is there something different about logging in now? When I log in it doesn't say Welcome chaggle etc.. It's only when I go into a therad that I see that I am. When I come back to Forum it logs me out (I think). I'll have another go.........

I've got some weird and wonderful logging in stuff going on too. I'm logged of even though I asked it to remember me (or it appears I'm logged off). When I sign in the it doesn't look entirely like I'm logged in until I go through a thread and then *poof* all back to normal. Taday I went to sign in and it said I used an invalid name, but it had 'welcome floppit' at the top, I clicked forum and bingo all perfect!

I've been doing stuff on the server messing around with redirections etc. so it may interfere with things at first.

Especially if you're using a bookmark that is out of date.

Then again, that might have nothing whatsoever to do with it!

I think some of these issues might be to do with the fact that the forum is set up to work from ukskeptics.com but the default server behaviour is to serve up pages as skeptics.org.uk

I'll look into changing that as well.

As a new member I'd like to add that there are a lot of subforums here that don't seem to be used that much. It makes it difficult to navigate from the main forum page and I find myself going straight to the active threads page.

    Re: It all looks different

This evening, I've installed the first upgrade of this new system. Apparently it fixes over 200 bugs (!)

Hopefully, that means a lot of the niggles some people have experienced will be cured.

Then again, as some of the problems seemed to have been caused by browser caching problems and such like, those ones might re-occur.

Overall though, this is hopefully the first step towards a more stable suite of interactive web applications that will help us build an online community.

There's another update due towards the end of the month so if any bugs remain, they will be addressed in that one.

Then we can (hopefully) separate real forum issues from the teething troubles of using new software.

For every bug you fix, at least one will come to take it's place.
Or is that just my programming skills?
