    Tool: Aenema.

Anyone familiar with this song? El Ron doesn't seem to be their favourite guru.

Perhaps we could get a list of songs together which convey a spirit of skepticality?

    I'll start with:

    Aenema by Tool, and

Redemption Song by Bob Marley, if only for the following great two-liner:

    Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery;
None but ourselves can free our minds.
    Cheers,

    R. Bear.

    Ænema should have a diphthong.

Come Mr(s) Bear, lets be accurate with spellings.

    Also welcome to UK Skeptics.

I'm not a fan of Genesis, but Jesus He Knows Me is a humorous skeptical look at US fundy Christians:

Indeed, but I don't have a Scandinavian keyboard!

Heh. I happened across the god channel on the box a while ago, it was showing something along those lines, hosted by the aptly named Creflo Dollar!

Tim Minchin would be the obvious one to mention here.

Slayer have a fair bit of skeptical stuff as well. Mostly aimed at religion, but they go after conspiracy theorists as well.

And, of course, Stevie Wonder - Superstition.

R.Bear mentioned Muse in the other thread.

They have a number of good song titles for Skeptics: "Thoughts of a Dying Atheist"; "Supermassive Black Hole"; etc. I've seen them cover "Telstar" live.

But are they a good skeptic role model? They've also recorded "Knights of Cydonia" with a dodgy Cowboys meet Cylons on Mars video and lead singer Matt has been accused of being a "9/11 conspiracy theorist" (I've no idea if it is true).

It's much easier to come up with a list of songs full of woo. "No Doubt about It" by Hot Chocolate; "Laurie (Strange Things Happen)" a classic phantom hitch-hiker story. There are hundreds.

I did hear the latest Muse album is a bit full of conspiracy. Although I do like it, and I never listen to lyrics anyway. I've never gone and checked whether the claims have any validity.

    United States of Eurasia

You and me are the same
We don't know or care who's to blame
But we know that whoever holds the reins
Nothing will change, our cause has gone insane

And these wars, they can't be won
And these wars, they can't be won
And do you want them, to go on and on and on?
    Why split these states?
When there can be only one!

And must we do as we're told?
Must we do as we're told?

You and me fall in line
To be punished for unproven crimes
And we know that there's no one we can trust
Our ancient heroes, they are turning to dust

And these wars; they can't be won
Does anyone know or care how they begun?
They just promise to go on and on and on
    But soon we will see
    There can be only one!

I'd like to have gone seen them again on this tour but I'd have to go to the shithole that is the Glasgow SECC and I can't really be bothered these days with the hassle.

Did see them at T in The Park a few years ago and also at SECC about a year later. Were awesome both times.

Anyone interested in a band with a genuine Skeptical outlook could do no better than Bad Religion. A US punk band, been going 30 years. Tight, intelligent and lively....if you like that sort of thing (and I do!).
Myspace page is easy to find, lyrics are available on their official site....
