When Uri started getting involved with failing football teams etc., I thought it was a smart move on his part. If a team is failing so badly that they look for help then things like the regressive fallacy and the hawthorne effect would see an improvement. Similar to Newcastle Utd's improvement after the sacking of Graeme Souness.
For some improvement to occur however, there must be some belief in the agent affecting the change (like belief in acupuncture increasing its placebo responses).
I wonder if Uri's almost universal failure with these encounters is down to the fact that people lack belief in his psychic powers?
It would explain his poor results.
.
I was certainly pleased to see him supporting Exeter a few years back.
But then I'm a Carlisle supporter, and we were one of their rivals for relegation that season!![]()
For the Hawthorne effect maybe, to some extent, alhough I thought that that was more to do with people performing better as a result of being aware of someone taking an interest. The regressive fallacy, though, is not to do with belief at all, just with the fact that medical (especially chronic) conditions, or as in this case the performance of football teams, tend to be average out to some extent, so that when things are particularly bad they are likely to start getting better as they tend back towards an "average" level. But evidently not always, as Uri's involvement with Exeter shows.Originally Posted by John Jackson

Has Uri tried to take the credit for the trial result?
“Has Uri tried to take the credit for the trial result?”
No, but I am sure that were Uri able to do all that ESP stuff, he wouldn’t have gotten himself involved with someone who seems to be such a howling liability.
Furthermore, if Geller were really psychic, then how come he didn’t spot Michael’s anti-Semitism? He recently broke off all contact with Jackson, after it was revealed that Jacko referred to Jews as ‘leeches’ in a telephone message he left with his attorney.
“I don't want to hear from Michael Jackson ever again,” Geller apparently declared, adding “I'm Jewish, I was born in Israel, and I will never forgive him.”
While it is understandable that a Jewish dude would get mighty pissed off with a Jew-hater, what isn’t so easy to dig is that the offending message was left a couple of years ago, so why hasn't Uri spidey-sensed it before now? It’s not even as if Jackson's antisemitism was a secret; back in 1995 Michael was dissing Jews with his song ‘They Don’t Care About Us,’ which famously contained the line: “Jew me, sue me, everybody do me, kick me, kike me…"
Can it be true that Uri only found this shit out in January? Some vibe-master he is. Not.
>Tchoh<
Just a thought...
If Uri had claimed to have used his "powers" to influence the jury into finding Jackson not guilty, then surely Jackson should be re-tried and Geller charged with perverting the course of justice!
Of course, he'd have to be taken seriously.
As with the footie example above, I don't think he's taken at all seriously these days.
I must admit though, he was a great act in his hey day.

Here's an overview of Uri's success rate: http://homepages.manx.net/jha/The-Curse.htm

What a wonderful link, proving a rather delightful 'success' rate for Uri!
Geller has truly excelled himself in every way possible to secure his reputation as the Eddie 'the Eagle' Edwards of the psychic world...
I'm sure there was an article in Viz a few years back that showed a picture of what purported to be Uri's arse.
We were invited to put our hands over it and will the viens in his arse to swell and give him chronic piles.![]()
Anyone know if it worked?
PS: I vote that all Uri posts end with this smiley:![]()
Rumpology on Uri!
I see you have immense psychic ability - an ability to influence everything you get involved with to go wrong.![]()
