I don't know. Why do you ask?

It is an excellent question and one I've lain awake nights worrying over.

I've googled every combination of this and I'm getting nothing. Any more clues?

Two threads on this? Must be important. Also had a quick check to see if any obvious interesting story. It's spooky for sure. On the other hand maybe it was falling down? Or in the way of some big development? Or an ugly 1950 monstrosity that deserved to die a horrible death? Or, ummm, that's my guessogenerator out of fuel....

Wrong. Chapels and churches are demolished all the time. Why would you look for a paranormal explanation before looking for a mundane one?

Replied rather flippantly on the other thread but more seriously.....

Was there another church of the same denomination fairly locally? If so, with falling congregations, it may not have been economically viable, especially if it needed structural work doing to it. A quick profit for the C of E (or other denomination) selling off the land to a developer....in town 'brown site'...easy to get planning permission. Happens a lot. Demolish or conversion.

What strange goings on are there?

Why, whenever there are 'strange goings on' do people leap to the idea that the paranormal might be involved? And why then start looking into the history of the site? I get this all the time and it is a mystery to me.

If I hear strange knocks or bangs in a building, for instance, I investigate them and usually find a mundane explanation. If I can't, I might ask a builder or plumber to take a look. What I don't do, is start delving into history! The bangs are here and now and can be investigated here and now. What has history to do with it?

From the information available I'd say it was demolished to make room for flats.

I also have a friend who lives in a coverted church. It's not that unusual after all.

I love living in Aberdeen, where almost every church has been converted into flats, bars or casinos. Apparently Aberdeen has the least religious population in the UK. Yay us!!!

    Three cheers for Aberdeen!

Slightly off-topic, but isn't it odd that so many Victorian churches and chapels end up as carpet warehouses?!
