    Happy new year everyone

Happy new year one and all - any resolutions?

    Mine are as follows:
1 - Practice more on the electric guitar and try to nail some cool blues
    2 - Did i mention the guitar?
3 - Get more into Dave Gilmour's music
4 - Promote science in the public domain via some new exciting projects
5 - Help UKS along the way
6 - drink slightly less (only slightly)
7 - try and lose a few lbs....

Well over here in the USA it's not yet new years. However, all is not lost as I have some good cheep scotch and plenty of ice.

My plan is to stay home, make some rather incoherent posts on various sites, and get moderately drunk. There are too many idiots out on the roads tonight to go anywhere, and where I'm at it's a long way to anywhere.

So happy new year to the UK, USA, and "miscellaneous other."

    Dear Lord

So far this year I've done well.

I haven't gossiped, I haven't lost my temper, I haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or overindulgent. I'm very thankful for that. But in the morning, Lord, I'm going to get out of bed, and from then on I'm probably going to need a lot more help.

    Amen.

There is no such thing really as "good cheep scotch"

However, cheep scotch is ok with a little ice and a splash of water, or in a classic scotch and soda.

If I could afford the good stuff, I would brag about my choice of brands instead of bragging about the ice I have to dilute it with!

Essentially, cheep scotch is just flavored alcohol that's ingestible, while good scotch is an experience all its own.

Over here, "whiskey" is generally sour mash, which to me is the nastiest stuff ever. Whatever the generic flavor of "scotch" is, it's appealing to me, while "whiskey" is sort of like turpentine.

I've had various single malt scotches, but not Glenmorangie, I'll have to look for that one when I have a few extra bucks to spend on liquor.
