At least you have read them, I haven't so these posts leave make my brain go all funny. At least now I know what it is like to like to be a Conspiracist or wooist.

Re: Welcome to the UK-Skeptics' forum.

Hi guys, I got an email from you the other day, and thought I'd say hello. I registered a while back, but haven't really posted. I'm John Duffield, the relativity+ guy. Physics is my game, and I'm the super-skeptic. Sure, I have an open mind, so when somebody has an idea or a model or a theory, I'm interested. If there's no supporting evidence for a year or two I can be patient. After five years I'm disappointed, after ten I'm starting to get suspicious. If there's no supporting evidence after twenty-five years, I'm skeptical. There are things out there like time travel and parallel worlds that have as much supporting evidence as fairies and the paranormal, but people swallow it hook line and sinker. I don't. Instead I can demolish this stuff, but some of you will go into denial and start dismissing evidence just like our creationist friends. What most people don't realise is that people are very odd when it comes to beliefs, and it's a people problem, to do with psychology, not a religion problem or anything else. Anyhow, I'll have a scout round the forum and see what I can find to show you what I mean.

Really? I'm sceptical about that statement. I do hope you'll apologise when it doesn't happen.

I take it that you have a pet theory that mainstream science doesn't accept.

Of course, anyone who doesn't agree with you/your theory is "a skeptic", yes? Because skeptics are people who don't believe things, right?

Did you read the newsletter advertised?

There was a piece in there about how people misunderstand and mischaracterize skepticism.

    You should have read it.

In another thread he's gently easing us into accepting that Einstein's version of relativity is bunk ...

(And of course if we don't accept it then we are closed-minded skeptics.)

I thought it was a familiar looking preamble to a revolutionary theory!
