As am I. On both counts.

By embedding URLs, I take it to mean that you wish to link a piece of text to a URL, is that correct? If so, then you do it by highlighting the appropriate text as you edit your message, then clicking the 'Insert link' icon at the top of the edit window ( the icon that represents a 'world', with a chain beneath ). Then insert the required URL into the pop-up box.

Please excuse me if this is not what you were referring to.

Or just type, for example, (url=http://jackofkent.blogspot.com/)Jack of Kent's blog(/url) but with square brackets instead of round ones:

    Jack of Kent's blog

If you're using Firefox (which I heartily recommend) an even simpler method is through the BBcodeXtra addon.

Just Copy the URL, write your feature text and then highlight it, right click > Clipboard > BBCode > Selectable URL (from memory, working on GFs PC so don't have it accesible). Also features HTML for all your favourite blogs

Not sure it's the right place to post this but I seem unable to get an avatar pic displayed. I've tried several pics and although they show up on the avatar page they don't display on my posts.

If I need greater privilege or I've missed something obvious I appologise.

Sorry, I've just seen this - been busy!!!

There's no restrictions on anyone putting up an avatar.

    What size is it?

If it's too large then it might not accept it but there's no restriction with permissions etc.

Only a little thing, but I'm finding it sooooo frustrating that the board is showing GMT +2 for me, when it should be GMT +1. I can't find any way in my User CP to rectify it. Please can somebody help?
(Such a stupid idea anyway this yearly clock changing. I believe we have Benjamin Franklin to blame for it in the first place?)

Are you sure the time zone for your computer is set correctly (UK rather than Central European Time, for example)?
Be skeptical of the things you believe are false, but be very skeptical of the things you believe are true.

It would appear so - my computer adjusts the time change automatically.

In your own forum settings the time zone was set to 1 hour ahead of GMT. So you'll get GMT+BST+1 hour - i.e. 2 hours ahead.

I've changed the settings for you so it should be OK now.

Thank you, John. That's done the trick. Now I don't feel so much as though I'm living in another time zone.

    Re: Forum Queries

NOTE: all users can set their own time settings in their own user panel.

If you're in the UK then just set it to GMT and 'automatically detect DST' and it will all be done for you automatically.

If you're outside the UK you can choose your own time zone (so you get local time displayed) and you can override the DST setting if you're somewhere that doesn't use it - like Arizona.
