On the (ridiculously large) assumption that they exist..

If they can interact with the real world then they can be monitored\measured\filmed, not just by waving an un-calibrated EM field detector around or having someone declare they 'feel a chill'. If something is being moved set up a discreet webcam

There's a real enough subjective experience of seeing ghosts that cuts across cultural and religious lines.

But what evidence that it's really dead people and not overwrought imagination?

Why exactly do you believe they exist and what do you think they are?

What events do you have happening?
There are some very knowledgeable people here, perhaps they can explain what you're experiencing.

Ghost sightings, when investigated, are found to have multiple causes, particularly misperception and hallucination. The reported experiences in haunting cases tend to actually point away from any 'spirit' involvement. The idea that ghosts are 'spirits' seems to be a largely cultural one. Therefore, speculating on the nature of ghosts without specific cases in mind is likely to be largely fruitless.

Do you have any particular cases you have witnessed or investigated, in mind? If so, please let us know the details so that we can comment.

A ghost that cannot interact with the material plane, that has no effect on real things, that cannot be detected or sensed eh? In what sense could such a thing be said to be real?

From many metaqphysical perspectives something without effect is without existence.

If you're having experiences of ghosts, could you tell us what they are and when they happen etc., and then we might be able to suggest a way of looking into it.

Why do you believe that they are real? Is there an event or series of events that has led you to this belief, or is it something you were brought up with?

It depends on your definition of what a ghost is. Do you have any way of testing your hypothesis?

As has been mentioned before, there are a number of alternate explanations of 'ghosts'. You'd have to be sure it's not any of those before you start testing for shades and spectres.

One thing I would like to know, is if ghosts give off EM radiation that can be detected on EM Meters, why aren't people who live in 'haunted' houses complaining of an increase in the cancer rates?
