I once read of the economist who stated that Christmas was always caused by the increase of consumer expenditure in the two months beforehand. The statistical coincidence, it seems, was too strong for it to be otherwise...
Does anyone else know of similar barmy claims about cause-and-effect or proof? They can be serious or ironic...

The whole philosophy behind Rhonda Byrne's "The Secret" and "The Law of Attraction" is that you can make yourself rich by first thinking and living as if you were rich. That you can heal yourself by thinking yourself as healthy.
