    Radovan Karadzic practised alternative medicine

If you will allow me an ad hominem, it turns out that the most famous practitioner of alternative medicine was Radovan Karadzic.

    Another crime against humanity?

To be fair, I guess it's the kind of profession where a long beard might go unnoticed and/or where some kind of put-on accent and vagueness about one's personal history might actually be a bonus.
If you go somewhere where people you meet are likely to believe almost anything, it's maybe not too hard to sustain a false identity.

I wish to be clear that my post was a bit tongue in cheek I wasn't really suggesting practitioners of CAM were necessarily mass murderers - it was a deliberate logical fallacy as it were.

The long beard .... James Randi has a long beard. Perhaps we could change this thread into deliberate fallacies and see how many get spotted

I was thinking about that very thing while writing, *and* that a fake accent and a deliberately vague past might not be a handicap for someone doing stage magic, since deep down, everyone knows it's fake, but might still wish that it wasn't.

Masquerading as an expert in human quantum energy, the fugitive was so confident in his disguise...
He's lucky he didn't come across any of the real experts in human quantum energy - they'd have seen through him like a shot.

HAHAHA! Work of genius! That cartoon is my life!

I think it would take sociologists way longer than 4 minutes to catch on to a spoof though, because they'd be too busy thinking about whether disagreeing with you might be seen as some kind of oppression. I love the way the lit crit stick Prof gets the comfy chair and the student sitting at their feet.

    I have seen my future!

I guess Dana Ullman will have to revise his book:

The healer on the 73 bus, Europe's most wanted man
As Dabic, he set up a website called Psy Help Energy which advertised the David Wellbeing Programme which offered help from "experienced experts from pioneering areas of science where there are immense possibilities for interaction with natural forces in and around us".

Among other services offered were acupuncture, homeopathy, "quantum medicine" and traditional cures.
