Joe Power must be desperate to kick-start his flagging career - he's still using some outrageously bogus claims to impress the credophiles. He'll be visiting the Isle of Man next month for a series of private readings at £50 each, and the Isle of Man Today informed its readers that:
After contacting the Isle of Man Today with the facts behind Power's contributions to the Bowman case I sent the following e-mail to his manager Claudine Hope:As well as dazzling audiences Joe has also put his talents to very good use in police investigations including those of Shannon Matthews, Sarah Payne and Sally Anne Bowman
Dear Ms Hope,Ms Hope must have agonised for hours over her response:Isn't it about time Joe Power stopped claiming to have helped the police in the search for Sally Anne Bowman's killer? I was disgusted to see that this barefaced lie STILL features in Mr Power's publicity material, most recently in the Isle of Man Today newspaper.
Perhaps Mr Power hopes that people will have forgotten the farcical nature of his involvement - ie telling the Daily Mirror that Ms Bowman's spirit had revealed to him the identity of her killer, a Stephan or Stephen White, aged between 24 and 26, who worked as a delivery driver. It's a little difficult to understand how this hot tip from beyond the grave could have helped the police as year 36 year old chef Mark Dixie was recently found guilty of Ms Bowman's murder.
I'm reminded of the fact that Mr Power also claimed to have assisted police in the Lyndsey Quy murder enquiry, but was obliged to remove this statement from his website when it was emphatically denied by Detective Superintendent Geoff Sloan of the Southport Police:
“I wish to state, categorically, that as Senior Investigating Officer on the Lyndsey Quy murder, I made a policy decision not to use psychics on the investigation. Joe Power has allegedly made claims that he assisted the enquiry but this is not the case.”
What exactly did Mr Power contribute to the search for Shannon Matthews and the murderer of Sarah Payne? Was it the kind of assistance you described after the Quy fiasco:
"Joe Power did how ever make a statement in the Southport Police station where he spoke with a women officer who gave Joe a receipt for the statement made."
Does Mr Power have a receipt for the statements he gave to the police in the Matthews and Payne cases?
Evidently Ms Hope thinks it's acceptable for her client to exploit murder victims and their families. I won't my time contacting her again but I WILL contact the relevant Trading Standards Authorities, the management of the threatres at which Power will be appearing over the next couple of months and local newspapers. For example, I think the people of Southport, where Power will be appearing at the Floral Hall in September, should be made aware of his lies about assisting the local police in their search for the killer of Lyndsey Quy. This is truly sickening.Dear atkinson get a life my client stands by what is true. You must be a sad
person do not email back .
Please, please, email back![]()
Hmm, nice "You Must Lead a Miserable Life!"/"Get a Life!" combo![]()
Hmmm...and said so eloquently as well.
I guess a command of the language and professionalism weren't part of her job description?
Of course, the police always deny using psychics. It's all part of a global conspiracy ...![]()

Excellent stuff. The e-mail you got back is part of the course I guess but if enough of us stick to our guns then there might be some impact.
Having had a closer read of his website, I remain uncertain if he is just deluded and really believes in what he says or if he is a fraud? The "better than any other psychic" is certainly an interesting claim. Then there is the bit about the death of his brother. One thing I am certain - he does not have psychic ability but I am nevertheless left with mixed feelings about JP's motives. I don't know him and so I could just be suckered in but for sure there are many out there who are genuine inasmuch that they truly do believe. If anyone feels I need educating in respect to JP please feel free.
The e-mail address of his manager is on the website - it does leave me wondering why a psychic, as good as JP claims to be, needs e-mail, or a website, or a phone.....?
Maybe it's to help get information about people when they don't live next door to his sister?
I noticed his memorable performance on the Derren Brown programme.
I was particularly impressed by how he consistently and rapidly turned nasty when challenged, even when the geniune sitter merely failed to acknowledge him as actually having done anything, when he actually hadn't done anything - despite claiming to be talking to her dead relative, he still ended up with the wrong idea about the number of siblings that person had had.
How someone like him manages to get through a whole day without being punched is a mystery to me.
After watching that show I shall forever think of Joe as "Bum-Crack" Power.![]()
joseph bolster as mr power was christend i had the unfortunate displeasure of spending 4 or 5 years as a victim of 1 of the most evil men ive ever come across. he is probably connected 2 the dead but only through the devil. i did not know about derren brown or bolsters proffession until i bought todays liverpool echo. this man made my life a living hell through fear pain and eventualy forcing me to abandon my life that i had built up with my son and then girlfriend. if u want 2 no what this evil nasty man is realy like look in his eyes there is no soul in there.![]()
I see Joe Power is thinking of taking legal action: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liver...0252-26721591/
It's always amusing when these genuine and gifted psychics fail to see disaster coming.Joe, who is originally from Bootle, said: “Originally I was told the programme was going to be called Derren Brown Unexplained and I thought it would be fair.
I think Joe's biggest problem regarding that programme was that he allowed his personality to shine though - Mr. Love 'n' Light he ain't.
