New Wiseman research in Nature shows amazing clown/biology link

    From today's Nature:

New research has revealed that the red nose and face-painting traditionally associated with clowns may have its origins in science.
Psychologist Richard Wiseman of the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom used highly sensitive infrared imagers to observe people as they laughed at jokes and video clips. The devices were able to accurately map heat changes in the face.

What makes it so believable is that they said it was by Wiseman!

Yeah, I wondered if that was genuine. If it is, she's a sad silly cow. If not, then it's a pretty funny parody of a sad silly cow.

To be absolutely fair, the credit is to acknowledge ownership of the copyright, which technically is my company, but we thought that might give the game away so went with my name instead. Although I and Rachael did all the photoshopping to get the heat map effect, the original photo (of my brother-in-law Stuart) was taken by Phil.
