    I saw Steve Vai a couple of years ago, he was the guest at the Royal Albert Hall performance of Zappa Plays Zappa. He was great but he does a funny walk when he plays which makes me laugh over the music.

    I saw Vai with Dave Lee Roth in about 1986. What a gig!

    I seem to remember Zappa crediting him for "impossible guitar parts".

    Satriani taught vai did he not (at least to some degree)?

    Its always nice to know the heritage of these guys.

    Satriani = Vai = Dweezil????

    What do you all think of Malsteem? I am not sure i get it really.....definately a great talent but i find the music somewhat "cold"

    I saw Clapton last year - he was great. I am going to see Santana later this year. Looking forward to it.....

    Yngwie (? spelling) is an acquired taste. He is very good but I can't get in to him either. All technique and no soul maybe?

    Vai is always great, and he doesn't take himself too seriously. That fan he has blowing his hair is funny.

    What did you think of the young bloke playing Canon Rock?

    Passion and Warfare was a fantastic album .

    Petrucci from Dream Theater is another great player.

    Yep, Satriani taught Vai.

    My fave guitarist is George Benson, I'm a bit jazzy like that.

    Santana annoys me these days, he's too...Santanaish. He plays all over the damn tune and I'm like "stop widdling and let someone sing or something, dude".

    I think that's it - its just really fast and loud (great technique) but no real feeling to it.

    I read somewhere that Eddie Van Halen is to be credited with the way most of these guys are now playing (fret board picking etc) and is supposed to have the fastest left hand. Not sure how we know this of course....being a skeptic I want evidence!!!!!
