Long shot, but I thought I'd try here just in case.
I have a property which I rent out, but I want to sell it later in the year. I went round to have a look at the condition of it at the weekend, and the garden is just the biggest mass of brambles ever.
Obviously it needs to be cleared. I have had a couple of gardeners come out and quote but they've turned their noses up because it doesn't actually involve any gardening, just hacking back brambles and then clearing it once there's room to move.
I also called the council to see if they had any sort of community/rehabilitating offenders scheme - about 20 years ago my mom had two lads come and clear our garden who were on just such a scheme. It was great, they got paid for honest toil and worked off part of their sentence at the same time. But the council hadn't heard of anything like that in Brum.
Or, maybe some of you know someone with muscles who wants a weekend's work?
Any leads would be appreciated! PM me if needed. The property is in Birmingham, near the airport.

How about putting an advert up at one of the universities? especially if the house is easily accessible from the Coventry Road bus service (900?).
If you're stuck I could probably find some willing students in need of food and beer money.
Good idea, although they might take one look at it and run away!
You know in fairy tales when the castle is completely overgrown with evil brambles?
I'd suggest looking for a general 'Handyman'. It's a bit too unskilled for gardeners (unless they're landscaping it afterwards)
I just got a quote from a couple of gardeners whose yell.com ad says they clear overgrown gardens.
Nearly a grand!!!
Bit out of my budget :(
tell the police you thing there is stolen money berried somewhere in your garden, and they will turn it over for you![]()
And to think my parents used to make me do that for nothing.
