Exclamation The society of homeopaths: resorting to intimidation to hide their shame.

It was only a year or so ago that the Sense About Science guys uncovered the scandal of homeopaths selling people their useless anti-malaria pills.

The Society of Homeopaths have, so far, neither condemned this nor issued guidelines to its members to discontinue this dangerous, actually life-threatening, practise.

Now it turns out that a recent entry on the Quackometer blog has had to be (for now) removed after lawyers writing on behalf of the Society of Homeopaths have claimed that the entry was defamatory.

    There's more info here: http://dcscience.net/?p=171

I'm sure the entry, whist hard-hitting, is accurate as the information was taken from publicly available sources.

This is nothing more than intimidatory tactics, much loved of quacks and paranormalists.

Annoying as these tactics are, they will not prevail. As long as skeptics, et al., stick to factual information (no matter how unsavoury to the quacks) we will get our message across.

These people cannot justify their beliefs or actions and rather than attempt to do so would rather silence their critics by underhand means. Yes, cowards indeed.

I shall state emphatically right here that homeopathy is utter bull, I invite a lawyer to prove otherwise in a court of law.

As a homeopath myself, I find this post offensive and demand that it is taken down immediately.

There's a link at DC's page to Gimpy's blog, he's got the entire article posted. Or you could just click this --> http://gimpyblog.wordpress.com/2007/...y-legal-means/

May I respectfully refer you to the defendants' response in Arkell v. Pressdram?

I've not heard that response for many moons - a genius piece of correspondence.

Are you going to clue us non-lawyer types in on the joke?
