Thread: Why do psychics care about science?

  1. #1

Why do psychics care about science?

Psychics have an odd relationship with science. Some seem keen to get science to validate their experiences. Others say psychic phenomena are 'beyond science'.

I can actually understand the psychics who dismiss science as being able to say nothing about their experiences. Science hasn't done much for them so far. What I don't understand is the others.

Aren't there any famous scientists in the spirit world who can tell those of us on this side the exact mechanism of spirit existence and communication in scientific terms?

Good one. First of all we would need a relative or descendant - I would go for Einstein myself, but someone like Crookes or Faraday would fit the purpose for obvious reasons.

So, let's get this idea rolling.

Why do you need a relative? What happened to drop in communicators? Don't they drop in any more?

Sadly they are not at our beck-and-call.

If you seriously would like to test your idea, my recommendation is that you go through a descendant. Bear in mind though that just because people cross over doesn't mean they suddenly become the ultimate scientific mastermind of everything. It would make things easier - far easier - if you contact a descendant.

If I could contact a descendent that would be amazing. Particularly as I don't have any kids!

Obviuosly you are unwilling to pursue what is actually quite a reasonable idea.

I was referring to descendants of deceased famous scientists. There needs to be a link.

Why does there need to be a link? Is this something new? I used to go seances years ago and we frequently had drop-in communicators. They were interesting to research. Unfortunately, the messages directed at me were completely wrong in every respect. This may have been because I provided no feedback.

You can't seriously expect me to go to the descendent of a famous scientist and suggest they go to a medium to contact their relative!

I can't believe that no famous scientist hasn't already contacted someone through a medium. There are thousands of books full of material from mediums. Don't any of those contain messages from scientists? I've had a quick look on Google but haven't found anything.

I don't have the book to hand, but didn't the 'Scole Experiment' supposedly involve communication with a team of 'spirit scientists'?

I'm sorry, Tin Lizzie, but I really don't follow the thinking behind your suggestion that there needs to be a familial link to facillitate ( or ease ) spirit communication. What would the rationale behind this be? Do you imply that there needs to be a genetic link between 'spirit' and sitter, or that this somehow involves memory, on the behalf of the spirit? The latter would, presumably, rule-out any but the closest relatives ( I never met my great-grandparents, for example ).

Any clarification on this point would, I think, be most interesting.

    Cheers,

    S

I've dealt with psychics for decades and no one ever mentioned having to be a relative before. Have the rules changed in the 'spirit world' or is this just your thing TL?

I don't know why, but I sort of assumed that, if there IS a 'spirit world', that it would have unchanging access rules. Is that just me or do other people think the same?

All very good and predictable so far. You seem to just completely ignore everything I say, so why should I bother explaining more? Maybe it is just best if you find out on your own, without any help.

    Oh please, that's a predictable get-out too.

Give us something to go on.

You're supposed to be a science teacher, yet you give up so easily.

    Hmmm....

That's right, I teach science. From your approach I can't imagine you teaching anything to anyone.

I'm not a teacher, but I sometimes have to show colleagues stuff that I'm working on to spread the knowledge around the team. If I find I haven't been understood on a point I go over it again in a different way or try an analogy or relate it to something that is already understood or a little demonstration. I'm not sure accusing the audience of being close-minded and refusing to elaborate will get me very far.

Right. So, what was your question again?
