Would those be the people from the front who were already there before the doors opened? That doesn't sound suspicious at all.

My experience of psychics is that the vast majority are deluded rather than fakes. The way to spot fakes is that they are just far too good! The 'average' psychic makes lots of 'mistakes' but either ignores them or has some ridiculous explanation for them. Fakes can't resist always being right.

    Lovely Jubbly!
That is totally outrageous. The more I hear about this man, the more dangerous I think he is. I wonder how much tax he pays on his healing income? Maybe he is due a visit from the tax inspector?

Even if they weren't knowingly behaving fraudulently, they are more than likely to be the type of people to go along with the healing act. But obviously you can't discount the fraud angle as well, this scam certainly sounds lucrative enough to involve multiple people.

I wonder if his 'committee' were present?

On the page where Gary names the Committee, the photos are missing - perhaps they were never there. So no way of knowing I suppose.

It's quite possible that Gary is simply deluded but being exploited by fraudulent people around him. He may have been coached to procide those disclaimer by someoen with a bit more savvy.

Also lets not forget that hye's not only "charging for his time" but for the time of those who administer, advertise and otherwise manage him.

Now that IS interesting. I've already been in touch with Gary's local trading standards authority but I'll try again and include that little nugget of info.

    Re: "non-evasive psychic surgery"

I contacted Harrow Spiritualist Church to ask if there was any truth in rumours that Gary had been thrown out of the congregation. Here's their reply:

"Gary was part of the congregation of Harrow Spiritualist Church, but has not been at the church for over two years. This is his own choice, and not one that has been imposed by the church.

I have not seen him since he has not been back at the church, and therefore unable to comment on what he does."

Secondly, with regard to Gary's very frequent mentions of Dr Gowri Motha - here's the reply I got from Dr Motha herself:

"Thank you for bringing my attention to this matter.

I do know Gary Mannion well as he was introduced to me by Jayn of splashdown water birth pool hire services who is a very old associate and friend of mine.

As always I maintained an open mind to his talents. I consider him as a
healer in training. I wish him well.

However I have not seen him for a year.

I will ask him to refrain from using my name in his future talks as I was
only investigating his talents at the time that I have known him."

Which would appear to leave Gary with the mysteriously untraceable Manesh Naidoo and a homeopathic doctor.

    Julia,

On one of Gary's sites, I found mention of Avinash Naidoo and Shmolia Naidoo. In case Gary had got a name wrong, I searched with Google, but could not get any matches.

The thick plottens! I've been in touch with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and Northwick Park Hospital - no response yet.

But here's a second e-mail from Dr Gowri Motha:

"I consider him as a healer in training.
Perhaps he is yet to surprise us all!
However I do share your concerns about his extravagant claims.
I have yet to be impressed by him.

I consider life as a bit of divine play, and I am vastly amused by it all!"

"Amusement" isn't the emotion that springs to mind when I consider my feelings about Gary but it's good to know that Dr Motha is concerned about "his extravagant claims" and has "yet to be impressed by him".

Cuddles, I first arrived at the church at about 6pm. There were 3 or 4 people standing outside the door to the main hall. Rather than stand around for half an hour, I decided to have a walk down Piccadilly and look at the posh shops.

It is possible that the queue to get in grew so quickly that the "Alternatives" people decided to open the doors earlier than normal. I really don't know.

    Are you suggesting something other?

Nothing to say, Gary? You just wouldn't believe what is going on behind the scenes, Gary.
