• What gets taught on a homeopathy degree?

Although homeopathy is meant to be a system of medicine, it is truly alternative (to) medicine and best described as a belief system rather than actual medicine. See: Homeopathy overview.

Nevertheless, this hasn't stopped some universities offering Bachelor of Science degrees in this non-evidence-based, unscientific belief system.

Prof. David Colquhoun has, after 3 years of waiting, managed to get a copy of the course contents of a homeopathy degree that was taught at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). The time delay being caused by UCLAN's reluctance to have the contents of their 'science degree' made public.

The first instalment of Prof. Colquhoun's take on this can be found here: http://www.dcscience.net/?p=2628

It will be well worth following DC's updates as we'll get an insight into the standard of material presented in these 'science' degrees.

To see that homeopathic remedies for cancer are being taught is somewhat disconcerting and it is important that this is made public. Homeopathy for self-limiting illnesses, such as colds or bruises, is harmless as the conditions clear up anyway; but ingredient-free 'medicine' like homeopathy is not going to have any effect whatsoever on cancer.

Such a notion being taught in a Bachelor of Science (!) degree is not only dishonest, it's not an exaggeration to say it's potentially life threatening.

NOTE: UCLAN no longer offer degrees in alternative medicine.
