Homeopathy kills (http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2009/06/05/homeopathy-kills/)

The infant girl, Gloria Thomas, died of complications due to eczema. Eczema. This is an easily-treatable skin condition (the treatments don’t cure eczema but do manage it), but that treatment was withheld from the baby girl by her parents, who rejected the advice of doctors and instead used homeopathic treatments.

Baby Gloria's parents guilty of her death

THERE was never a doubt that baby Gloria Thomas was loved and wanted by her parents.
But the dogged persistence of homeopath Thomas Sam and his wife Manju in treating their daughter's severe eczema with alternative remedies instead of conventional medicine cost the nine-month-old her life, a jury decided yesterday.

At what point does a worried parent say This is Not working and take your baby to see a real doctor and get some real medicine it is just a pity that the homeopath pusher who sold them the magic beans did not also go to prison.
The anger I feel towards these imbeciles, Gloria was in agony for months torture of the worst kind I just wander if people should be licensed before they have children………………..>:-)

I can just hear the "I know what's right for my baby" line like it is some unassailable position. >:-)

I am not really understanding why the homeopaths who 'advised' and 'treated' are not also facing some severe charges.

Was this in the US?

I suppose due to the fact that homeopaths aren't considered to be properly qualified they can't be held responsible for not spotting when their water is having no effect and at the end of the day they aren't responsible for the health of people in their care.

As far as i am concerned all quacks should have a health warning much like cigarettes, since using these instead of proven medical intervention could lead to your death, in a worse case scenario.

Crown Prosecutor Mark Tedeschi, QC
clearly in this country, as a QC was involved.

The man who's child died, he is the homeopath.

Yes, the court case took place in Australia.

Yes, the court case took place in Australia.

I stand corrected, I must check for evidence in the future. ::)
