Well, not yet but at least we have a date (sort of!). Subject to the results of a second MRI scan in the next couple of weeks my hubby is due to be released from hospital on the 22nd of April! Even better than that, the powers that be have said that as long as he carries on improving he can come home for brief visits in the last fortnight, something which was talked about before but got put on hold after the last MRI.

He might be sat on our sofa next week! ;D

This last fortnight has gone by so quickly that it doesn't feel that long to wait. I'm incredibly grateful we have the NHS, it may not be perfect but it's amazing how much has just been given us - one of the dressings on his finger end costs £150 EACH and may well save the end of that finger.

They've been taking photo's of his fingers and toes for teaching and luckily he'd taken piccies of his own fingers when they first started to get black spots and bruising so we've been able to add some early signs to the collection. It's realistic to think another patient may be diagnosed sooner because this happened to someone obsessed with photographs!

Oh - and I got told yesterday that my bosses want me after the redeployment trial is up. I was very worried about that because during the trial I had nearly a year off on maternity then a month later 3 weeks comp leave. I have a job.

Very good news mate

If I may ask (and I do realise its quite personal) but black spots? What is his medical condition?

He got septicemia - an infected heart that pumped the infection throughout his body, the black spots were where there had been bleeds, or the circulation had been interupted. He had bleeds all over the place from his brain to his toes!! Thankfully he's on the road to scraping through relatively unscathed - barring his finger end!

To be honest he is very, very, lucky. I have read it is usually a 50% mortality rate. Medical knowledge has come a very long way, and for that we should be thankful.

Hope he makes a speedy recovery, and tell him not to worry about the finger. He can scratch his nose with his other hand O0

Errr... I know, I watched the rescus team work on him, it was about as close a shave as you can get!

Thanks all, even if it's not certain it's fantastic to have a date.
