Did anyone see this?

It was about men and their 'real dolls' that they had for 'companionship'. The dolls were high-quality from the USA and cost around £3000. The programme was interesting - but i loved the quote when they all said "its better than being alone".........no its not - because you are still alone!!!!!! its an inanimate object even though it 'looks' human.

Psychologically very interesting (and no - I'm not a perv!!!! ;D)

;D
You gonna get yourself one for "research purposes" then Doc? What will the wife say ???

If these people really just didn't want to be alone, they'd be better off with a pet. My dear old cat has kept me company on many a lonely evening.

One suspects that "It's better than being alone" is something of a euphemism for the actual motivation - and cat's ain't so good for that :scared:

Funny you should mention these dolls, I was looking at the website for them a few weeks ago and frankly they look like teenage corpses.

You can get a male one, too, which is quite amusing.

Not suitable for work, but if I may say so, check out the gaping vaginas on those things!

I can't believe i just typed that. :-[

This thread is getting rather embarassing, ain't it?

Since I'm at work, I'll pass on viewing their voluptuous charms.

I assume you mean amusing as a concept, not in practice - what would hubby say ;)

They're not very nice at all, far too close to the uncanny valley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_Valley) for my liking.

From website:

Question: What sort of people buy REALDOLL?

REALDOLL customers include futurists, artists, art collectors, film-makers, scientists, health professionals, housewives -- you name it. There simply isn't just one type of REALDOLL customer! We provide REALDOLLs to single men, couples seeking to enhance their sex lives, people looking for exotic decorative art, adult retailers who want the ultimate display mannequin, or anyone who desires to possess the world's most realistic love doll (for whatever reason).

And, from opening post.....

Psychologically very interesting

Rrrright ???

Is that an appeal to authority type fallacy, Dr B? ;D

What a bloody good idea!!

They don't talk, don't nag, do anything you want ^-^ and you can buy one for less than the cost of a wedding.

If you're wondering why I've been quiet lately, well, I've been spending time with my new girlfriends: model A and model B. ;D

I'm unlucky me :( They turned out to be lesbians. And won't let me watch. >:(

I wonder if my wife will have me back?......... :ponder:

Aah but you could always just keep them both in separate cupboards, its not like they could run to make a secret tryst :)
