View Full Version : Cosmic ordering on Radio 2

Ive commented about Radio 2 elsewhere before, bringing dubious practises to the listening masses of Steve Wrights program.
So, today Radio 2 does it again by mentioning "Cosmic Ordering" hot on the heels of Noel Edmund's claiming it helped him with his recent TV comeback.
He had special guest astrologer Jonathan Cainer as his "expert" in Cosmic Ordering who incidentally has a new book published on the subject (available at all good book shops) suprise suprise.
Steve did his best to try and put doubt in peoples minds about wheather there was anything in it, suggesting that the things you ask for might happen anyway, but Cainer won the argument and the books will probably fly of the shelves.
Did anyone else hear this show today?

I haven't heard Steve Wright for a while. I do like his show as I like the humour. It's Janey Lee Grace (surely there's a natural, organic alternative ::)) that gets on my wick.
Steve does a daily astrology feature too but I get from his attitude that he doesn't take it seriously. Perhaps the producers think it adds to the show - for me it just spoils it with stupidity.

Actually Steve seems to have dropped the daily astrology feature, i think its now fortnightly with Russell Grant.
I bet it was daily initially to draw in more listeners.

Today Steve's special guest was none other than Noel Edmund's himself and guess what he was plugging?
CORRECT, he has a book out which is partly about cosmic ordering.
Edmund's attributes all of his recent success to it, "it happened to me" he said.
What i gather from all of this is that cosmic ordering is all about being more positive in yourself and that you have to make your own life.
Seems obvious to us skeptics but some people will be forking out their hard earned cash for these books when all they need is a little more will power, a bit like giving up smoking.
but I get from his attitude that he doesn't take it seriously.
Steve actually confirmed your suspicions today John, while talking to Edmund's

Good old Wrighty O0
I've always loved his shows. I remember him from the eighties on Radio 1; of course there wasn't the seemingly obligatory Woo in those days - it was just great fun.
Incidentally, there's a thread on the JREF forum regarding Steve's show: http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=60981
The main bone of contention is with Janey Lee Grace's promotion of a magnetic bracelet.

Man alive, this cosmic ordering stuff is everywhere! That, and indigo flipping children. Woo is so trendy right now it makes me want to scream.
The really funny part of Noel's prattling is his assertion that CO doesn't work if you're too specific. No shit, dude.
Hmm, lemme try.
Dear Universe,
I would like a nice surprise soon.

Okay, I'll keep you all posted as to whether or not I get my wish.
