View Full Version : Locked threads

Hello all
You may have noticed some ‘admin muscle’ being flexed on the two threads surrounding the delusions of one “not-so-psychic-psychic claimant”. It is my current personal view that those threads have run their course and have nothing left to offer either those involved in them, or those following the debate. Unlike the magical world of the Woo-Forum – we do not edit or remove posts – but leave the debate, in its entirety for all to see. We do not like to stifle debate – but encourage it. However, successful debate between adults can only proceed if all parties, at the very least, remain honest in their reporting of demonstrable facts. It is interesting to see some posters only contributing to the threads that are about themselves!
If you think I have been harsh then send me a PM or discuss it here and I will consider ‘releasing’ this beast of a thread back on you all…..

I agree that both of those threads had run their course, and a while ago too. Personally, I don't think you have been harsh at all - if anything, I would say extremely patient.

Really??
Interesting
I would say there has been some serious intimidation and bullying going on...quite insidious actually...but then you haven't been on the receiving end of it...I seem to recall being told to p**** O** not so long ago
------------
Oh and it is not possible to delete on here anyway; so not sure why that is included as important in Dr B's 'grand' statement....
Having said that I am grateful for the closure of some of those threads...So long as they are still there for public viewing and that the dates and times are still clearly on display
In the interests of research

---------
Gosh...who could you possibly mean?
It wouldn't be that 'someone' is attempting to counter balance the bullying, accusations and derorgatory comments which challenge her integrity would it?
Mmmm....
I personally am VERY open to adult discussion and debate (I came onto this board voluntarily if you recall)......it is just that I haven't found much of it on here...
Instead I have been diagnosed with personality disorders, told to P*** O*** and called a liar at every available opportunity (Some of you even pointed out that I had been treated very harshly)
You think you have open scientific minds? I wish you did...re this matter....
The reality is ...this is has just been a clash of the way minds work; rather than a 'meeting of minds'.
And no please do NOT open those threads again..
I am more than happy to contribute to discusions elsewhere so long as the personal asides and patronising comments stop..
As I said many of YOU made this personal...I didn't...I was simply defending my talent and integrity when it was challenged.
That is my right as a person..

The problem with locking threads is certain posters, let's not be specific, can make specious allegations of bullying whilst the (lack of) evidence of said bullying drops off page one and can never be bumped back for reference.
I've had a think and am now agin the locking of threads unless the debate has turned really nasty. It all seems a little proscriptive to me, especially as the power to lock threads rests with a select few and they all seem to be one one "side."
My view is it is better to let threads live or die on their own; if a subject has become stale then members won't post on it, but they make that decision themselves rather than having it imposed (I realise that Dr B did ask the question before closing the threads). If a discussion really has gone off-topic then the whole thread could be moved to somewhere more suitable.

but the problem here, and the reason I am ok with the lockings, is that we have one member, who of course doesn't (::)) want to make any of this about her personally but persists in bumping the threads about herself to just make sure we 'get' that point, and tell us all 'good bye, farewell ... won't be back...'
nah - she's not seeking attention at all. ;D

I'm sure Sarah is already whining about being "bullied" on UK-Skeptics, but even though the relevant threads are locked they constitute a highly revealing (and unalterable) record of her lies, evasions and retrofitting. Anyone less than convinced by her claims need only read the Saga of Psychic Sarah to discover that she is her own worst enemy. Allowing the threads to continue would, I think, be utterly pointless - we are dealing with a person so out of touch with reality any further "discussion" would have been a waste of time.

Umm... you see all those threads with your name in the title - that you continually returned to after saying goodbye? Those ones. You bump threads by returning to post in them.
I never said anything about bumping after they were locked.
Also, you participated in a thread I started, just to make the topic all about you, but never returned after I pointed out that the thread was not all about you. If you truly wanted to participate in the forum rather than troll about inflating your google hits and trying to cover up your lies, then surely you would have joined the discussion in that thread regardless.
Nah - you claim you don't want to publicise yourself, and yet you resist posting about anything that isn't about you. You claim you are not psychic, and yet you call yourself 'psychicsarah' and make claims about predictions. You claim you never read the news stories before 'predicting' things, and yet you clearly utilise the forums attached to those very news sites.
I had a low enough opinion of you before your despicable and disgusting treatment of tduk_17 and his girlfriend. Back when I believed I had psychic ability - even back then I worked to debunk people like you. You are a liar, as anyone reading these threads can clearly see. You are uncaring about people as can be seen from your ridiculous scramble to justify the completely incorrect information you gave him. You are a fraud and you don't deserve the amount of attention you have been given - although on the plus side I am certain potential clients of yours can see exactly how in-credible you really are.
Also - PLEASE learn to use the quote function. It really isn't difficult and might add some form of sense to your posts ... if you decide after yet another drama queen exit that you will in fact actually be back again.

I'd say it is you who has the inflated view. I do not claim to be a mouthpiece for god, or any other higher power, nor to have supernatural powers.
By way of refutation, we have asked you time and again to provide even one shred of evidence for your claims, which you have steadfastly refused to provide. When evidence is weighed against this criteria, then it becomes obvious that I'm not off the mark at all - without us fact-checking you and others of your ilk, there would be no bars to you claiming all sorts of ludicrous fantasy as fact.

I could be wrong but I wonder if you may be feeling a little like I did - that you would like to put the bickering to one side and get back to some straight forward discussion and perhaps a little debating. Perhaps, like me, you see the potential for some rational thinking that might include some important personal and spiritual growth. If I’m wrong, forget I said anything.

Oh, for goodness sake, that was written a month ago after another of your “flounces off in righteous indignation” episodes. You do that so often it is comical and, yes, up here it is called “acting like a big wean”.
Please don't act the martyr. You are free to post anywhere you want but it is always about you. You come on here and make contradictory statements and when anyone points this out you play the victimisation card.
I have yet to see you post on another (non PS) thread and actually engage with the topic under discussion. Do you have opinions on gun law? The existence of Jesus? The morality of Brian Ladd? Homeopathy, photographic orbs, UFOs, Creationism and ID? Do you have any amusing quotes to share with the people here? Are you any good at spot the difference puzzles? What do you think of the great A80 chicken disaster? You have a philosophy degree, so perhaps you would like to contribute to the critical thinking and logic forum? This is a very good site, perhaps you should engage more fully. I'm sure you would find is intellectually stimulating and occasionally amusing.
