Didn't he also appear on a panel game called (I think) It's Patently Obvious? Panellists were given odd looking (and often antique) devices and asked what they were supposed to do.

Ah yes, I remember it now - I'd usually be having tea straight after Jackanory, so only saw a few programmes.
